Andrea Bonior

Andrea Bonior, Ph.D., Teaching Professor, is the Director of Hoyas Connected, a program adapted from The Connection Project, which was originated at the University of Virginia. The program seeks to increase a sense of belongingness and community among new students. Prior to her current role, Dr. Bonior served on the adjunct faculty at Georgetown for sixteen years. In 2020 she won the national Excellence in Teaching award, given by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, a division of the American Psychological Association, and she is a many-year nominee for the Honors Faculty Award, given by the Georgetown College Academic Council, which honors faculty whom students believe to have had a meaningful impact on their Georgetown experience. Dr. Bonior is a licensed clinical psychologist and the best-selling author of “Detox Your Thoughts,” and for fifteen years was the voice behind "Baggage Check," the Washington Post's mental health advice column. She appears regularly in national media, including contributing frequently to CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper, has created several popular courses on well-being and cognitive skills for LinkedIn Learning, and is a sought-after speaker on emotional wellness, workplace stress, and mental health. She received her BA with distinction in Psychology and American Studies from Yale University, and her PhD in clinical psychology from American University, with a post-doctoral fellowship at George Washington University and a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Miami.
